# Hashtag I love real estate! Is your marketing machine working?
So, nowadays it takes focused effort to get your marketing machine working. Real estate investors need a “store front”. In todays day and age a store front is your website. People who are looking to sell their houses quick in Boston, in Malden, Framingham and pretty much everywhere in the US and abroad, search the internet looking for investors to buy their properties. How are they going to find you if you don’t have a storefront?
Please understand, in today’s day and age, you can’t just have a website, you have to have great SEO. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is key to landing on the first page when a seller is searching for a buyer for their property. So, the beginning part of your marketing machine is your website. Have you got a website? Do you need one or help with setting one up? Contact me and ask me who can help you out.
You need to have a blog on your website that you are adding contact to regularly. Now, some gurus will tell you to hire someone to do your blogging for you. It’s cheap enough, just go to Odesk.com and you can find a freelancer to help with just about anything. You can have people bid the job and some will work for $1 to $2 an hour. These are mainly folks from the Phillipines. US based workers are looking for more, somewhere around $10 – $12 an hour. The issue with this is that they don’t really know your business. They search online for articles that they can post on your blog. The problem is that the same information with the same wording in the same format can be found in other places on the internet. So, Google really doesn’t like that. Google wants to see fresh contact not copied content. So, if you are copying content or having someone else copy content, you are actually helping the original posters more than you are helping yourself. The other issue is that people do business with those they know, like and trust. If you are copying articles from others, how are your subscribers going to get to know, like and trust you? They aren’t. And, because of this they will discontinue coming to your site. Your blogposts need to have your personal vibe so your readers can get to know, like and trust you. When they do, they will bring deals to you.
The next step is to get your social networks set up. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. There are many that are building steam, but, these are the 3 that are key for optimizing the SEO on your website. Make sure your website url is linked to your social networks and visa versa. Post different types of items, post with pictures and don’t indundate your readers with too many posts, they will unlike you as quickly as they liked you if you drive them crazy and they see too much contect from you.
Now, I know that you may be thinking that it feels redundant to post on several different outlets. But, really, your subscribers “listen” the way they want to. Some are listening on Twitter, some are listening to your blog directly, some are listening on Facebook and some are listening on LinkedIn. It’s not your job to dictate how they opt in and listen to you, it’s your job to find them where they are hanging out.
We will be talking more about this on Thu, Oct 16th during the 5pm coaching session I will be doing for members at our monthly meeting.
